Vist to the fire station

All but one of the fire stations in Lakewood had open houses this evening from 4-7, so I surprised Ayden and Alex with a visit to a fire house right across the street from my friend Jessica's apartment complex. Ayden's reaction was priceless when I drove into the parking lot and he saw where we were, he squealed with joy and said "we're at a fire station, I want to slide down their pole". There was no pole at this fire house yet it was immediately forgotten, because there was so much more to do and explore. They had two Fire Engines and a small SUV for the kids to climb up into. There were several firemen on hand to answer questions and assist the children in their explorations. Two of them took a liking to Ayden and Alex and followed us all through our visit showing the boys different items on the walls and in the trucks. They both let Ayden wear their helmets which is not normally allowed because they are took heavy for a child's neck to support so they held them so that the full weight wasn't on Aydens neck. Another neat thing the firemen did for Ayden and Alex is they pulled out a pair of pants attached to fire boots and let the boys put them on. Ayden got really excited and Alex literally squealed with joy when they pulled them out and started to lift the boys into them. Jessica came over and assisted me with the boys all throughout the visit which was nice because she got to be apart of the pure joy of this visit. I am also thankful for he assistance because chasing two overly excited children through a crowed firehouse is challenging and having more than one person to do it makes the situation safer for everyone.
